The Lake Titicaca Tour will start at 7:30am with a transfer in our private van to the port of Puno. We travel by local motorboat to famous floating islands of Uros. The locals used a local aquatic plant called “totora reed” to make homes on top of the water. It is a very unique building style not found anywhere else in the world. Walking on the island makes you feel like you are on a waterbed yet it is still safe to walk, live in, and explore. The community is made of around 60 individual islands and during your tour you have the oppotunity to visit two of them. A local representitive will teach about daily life in the islands and the history of this island that dates back more then 300 years ago.
After, we head to the small island of Taquile. We start a gradual ascent by stairs to the center of the village. On arrival, you will be met with locals in traditional outfit and they will perform a local dance show. Take this opportunity to try on one of they skirts from the ladies or hat from the gentlemen and learn a few dance steps.
Later, we had back down to our boat, stopping over at local restuarant. We settle in for a delicious lunch made from typical island ingredients, the view from your lunch stop is spectacular. In your horizon, views of mountain peaks from the neighbouring Bolivia is clearly visible. Learn the different types of hats men wear and why they wear them. This is one of the few cultures in the world where a mens marital status is represented in his clothing. Next enjoy a demonstration of the wool dyeing process and a traditional plant they use as shampoo to clean it. Board the motorboat for a relaxing trip back to Puno. Arrival is scheduled for 6pm and we will transfer you back to your hotel.

An experience of a lifetime and much of this reason was because our tour guide Jhony who is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, kind, and has a great sense of humor. There were times on the trail where I struggled and went super slow and he really helped me push through in a non-pressuring way. He was honest about conditions and provided us with plenty of interesting information. Making it to Machu Picchu was so worth it. Only two others besides my boyfriend and I so it was really intimate experience . Transportation, food, facilities, all was perfect. The nature was indescribably magical.
